Rinse, Shine, Ceramic or Max: choosing the right wash package

Stand at our Northgate kiosk for an hour and you will hear the same question a dozen times: what is the difference between the packages, really? It is a good question. Wash menus everywhere are full of names like Lava Shield and Diamond Glow that do not tell you anything. Here is a plain explanation of what each Spectra package does and who it is for.

Rinse: the clean baseline

Rinse covers the essentials: a pre-soak that loosens dirt, a soft-touch foam wash, a spot-free rinse with filtered water and a high-velocity dry. It gets a car genuinely clean, and it is the right choice if you wash often and do not care much about shine or protection.

Shine: wheels and winter

Shine adds three things people notice right away. The wheel cleaner and brush arch remove brake dust from the barrel of the wheel, not just the face. Triple foam conditions the paint for extra gloss. Tire shine gives a satin finish. It also adds an undercarriage flush, which is the single most valuable step in winter.

Ceramic: protection that lasts between washes

Ceramic is our most popular package, and for good reason. After the car is clean, an SiO2 ceramic sealant and hot wax bond to the paint. The result is a slick, hydrophobic surface where rain beads and rolls off, and dirt has a harder time sticking. You will notice the car stays cleaner for longer, and the next wash is more effective.

This is the package we recommend for anyone who parks outside. Sap, pollen and bird droppings are much easier to remove from protected paint.

Spectra Max: every finishing touch

Max includes everything above and adds a graphene shield on top of the ceramic layer, a rain repel treatment on the windshield, a wheel protectant and a second pass through the dryers. The rain repel is the step Max members talk about most. At highway speeds, water sheets off the glass and you use your wipers noticeably less.

When does an unlimited plan pay off?

Divide the monthly price by the single wash price. For Rinse, that is 2 washes. For Ceramic, it is less than 2 washes. For Max, it is less than 2 washes. In other words, if you wash twice a month, a membership already saves money, and every wash after that is free.

Most members pick a plan one level higher than they would buy as a single wash, because the difference is only a few dollars a month.

Mixing plans in one household

Families often put the daily driver on Ceramic and the weekend car on Rinse. Each additional vehicle is $10 less per month than its plan price, so a Ceramic and Rinse pair costs about the same as one Max membership. The plan builder on our memberships page will show you the exact total.

Our recommendation

If you are unsure, start with Ceramic for a month. Pay attention to how the car looks five days after a wash, then decide whether to step up to Max or down to Shine. You can change plans at any time and the difference is prorated, so there is no wrong first choice.
